The Brain Prize Special Session: Equity, diversity and inclusion and the influence of prizes in neuroscience

Equity, diversity and inclusion, and the influence of prizes in neuroscience

Tuesday 13th April, 16:00-17:00 BST.

This special session will provide insights into the processes behind the selection of prize winners, explore possible reasons behind the lack of diversity, discuss the influence prizes have on equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI); share information about initiatives underway; and look into ways the neuroscience community can work together to bring about positive change.  The emphasis will be on allowing plenty of discussion with and between the panellists and delegates.

The panellists:

  • Tracy Bale (Chair), President of IBRO, and ALBA Director in charge of the Prize nominations working group
  • Martin Meyer, Scientific Programme Director of The Brain Prize
  • Richard Morris, Chairman of The Brain Prize Selection Committee
  • Angela Roberts, Member of the Gruber Neuroscience Prize Selection Advisory Board
  • Emma Yhnell, BNA Committee Representative for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

This special session is supported by The Lundbeck Foundation, which each year awards The Brain Prize, a prestigious €1.3 million personal research award, to one or more researchers with an outstanding contribution to neuroscience. Read more about The Lundbeck Foundation and The Brain Prize here.
